Monday, August 18, 2008 Villages Vintage Car Club
The regular meeting of the Villages Vintage Car Club was held on August 18th, 2008 at the Truman Recreation Center. President Jim Maiurro called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. and led the membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the July 21, 2008 meeting were read by Joan Barrett. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Mike Ferlisi. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried.
Pete Hendrickson reviewed upcoming activities of the Club – sign-up sheets are in the back of the room and information can also be obtained on the web site.
President Maiurro welcomed the following new members: Dave & Pat Storey, Bob & Trish O’Mara, Tony & Linda Hill, Chick & Ellen Kolick; Bill Holzmann.
OLD BUSINESS:
President Maiurro once again reminded members who ordered club shirts need to come get them and pay for them as soon as possible because his own money is tied up in this purchase.
President Maiurro reported he is still seeking information for name pins with the club logo.
President Maiurro reported that the club donated the two grills and barbecue incidentals to Girl Scout Troop #29 of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
President Maiurro reminded members that elections will be held in November for the positions of President and Secretary. Nominations will take place at the October meeting. Five of the seven member Entertainment Committee have agreed to stay in their position for the year 2009. Thank you again to this year’s seven committee members who have done a tremendous job in 2008.
NEW BUSINESS:
v Judge volunteers for September will be Rick and Joan Barrett.
v Member Art Koenig passed away on August 14th. Funeral services will take place on the 21st at Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake.
v Welcome back to Pam Hendrickson who is recovering well from recent knee surgery.
v 9 members attended the cruise-in with their cars at Clare Bridge Assisted Living.
v 11 members attended the cruise-in with their cars at the 50th anniversary celebration at Perkins Restaurant on 466.
v The Villages has asked the club to provide one old car for the Columbus Day Parade. President Maiurro and Vice-President Ken Pittman will walk and hold the club banner.
v Ci Ci’s Pizza will be hosting either a monthly cruise-in or a grand opening with our cars.
v Homewood Assisted Living has indicated they would like to have a cruise-in.
v Tavares Assisted Living has indicated they would like to have a cruise-in.
v Bob Giles spoke briefly on the method to use for exchange of auto repair tools.
v Ken Peterson stated he won a trophy and he was also given ten free tickets to any Renningers Flea Market/Auto Show in Mt. Dora if anyone would like a ticket.
v In place of the September meeting, there will be a pot luck dinner at the Truman Recreation Center on September 15th at 7:00 p.m. (regular meeting night & time). Please sign up for what you intend to bring.
The 50/50 drawing provided two drawings with the remaining half going to the treasury.
There were 40 members present at this meeting.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned by President Maiurro at 7:36 p.m.
